InternshipRemote

Backend Engineering Intern

Remote · flexible hours

Build and improve the FastAPI + PostgreSQL services that provision hosting, VPS, email, and apps — from billing flows to provisioning automation.

Python · REST APIs · SQL basics

Commitment: 3–6 months · 20–40 hrs/week · unpaid internship

Full job description

About the role

You will work on the services that actually run the platform: provisioning hosting and VPS instances, issuing domains, wiring email, deploying customer apps, and the billing that ties it together. This is not a sandbox project — your pull requests reach production customers.

What you'll do

  • Build and maintain FastAPI endpoints for provisioning, billing, and the customer portal
  • Model data in PostgreSQL and write migrations with SQLAlchemy and Alembic
  • Integrate third-party APIs — registrars, payment providers, DNS, and mail
  • Write tests and reproduce customer-reported bugs down to a root cause
  • Take part in code review and ship your own changes to production

What we're looking for

  • Comfortable writing Python — you can read a codebase and add to it
  • Understand HTTP and REST: methods, status codes, request and response shapes
  • Basic SQL — you can write a join and reason about what an index is for
  • Familiar with Git and working on a branch
  • Able to communicate clearly in English (French is a plus)

Nice to have

  • Any exposure to FastAPI, Django, or Flask
  • You have deployed something yourself, even a hobby project
  • Curiosity about payments, billing, or automation

What you'll learn

  • How a real multi-tenant cloud platform is structured
  • Designing APIs that other systems depend on
  • Debugging production issues with logs and real data

Frontend Engineering Intern

Remote · flexible hours

Craft the customer portal, admin console, and marketing site in Next.js and React. Turn designs into fast, accessible interfaces customers use every day.

React · Next.js · TypeScript

Commitment: 3–6 months · 20–40 hrs/week · unpaid internship

Full job description

About the role

You will build the interfaces customers use every day — the portal where they manage hosting, domains, email and apps, plus the marketing site that brings them in. We care about speed, clarity, and interfaces that work on a mid-range phone over a slow connection.

What you'll do

  • Build pages and components in Next.js, React, and TypeScript
  • Turn designs into responsive, accessible interfaces that work on real devices
  • Connect the frontend to our APIs and handle loading, empty, and error states properly
  • Improve page performance and Core Web Vitals
  • Help keep the interface consistent across four languages

What we're looking for

  • Solid JavaScript, and you have built something with React
  • Comfortable with HTML and CSS — including flexbox and grid
  • Understand what a component, prop, and state are, and when to reach for each
  • Familiar with Git and working on a branch
  • Able to communicate clearly in English (French is a plus)

Nice to have

  • TypeScript experience, or eagerness to learn it properly
  • Any exposure to Next.js or server-side rendering
  • An eye for design detail and spacing

What you'll learn

  • Production Next.js: the App Router, server components, and server actions
  • Building interfaces that stay fast on slow networks
  • Shipping user-facing changes and seeing how people actually use them

DevOps & Infrastructure Intern

Remote · flexible hours

Help run the servers, deployment pipelines, and monitoring behind the platform. Learn Docker, Linux, and how a real cloud is kept fast and reliable.

Linux · Docker · CI/CD

Commitment: 3–6 months · 20–40 hrs/week · unpaid internship

Full job description

About the role

You will help run the machines behind the platform: the Linux servers, virtualisation, deployment pipelines, backups, and monitoring that keep customer sites and apps online. You will learn what it takes to be responsible for systems other people depend on.

What you'll do

  • Help operate Linux servers and virtual machines across our fleet
  • Work with Docker and Docker Compose to build and deploy services
  • Improve deployment automation and CI/CD pipelines
  • Extend monitoring and alerting so problems are caught before customers notice
  • Help verify backups and practise restoring them

What we're looking for

  • Comfortable on the Linux command line — files, processes, permissions, logs
  • Understand the basics of networking: DNS, HTTP, ports, and TLS
  • Some scripting ability in Bash or Python
  • Careful and methodical — you check before you change things on a live system
  • Able to communicate clearly in English (French is a plus)

Nice to have

  • Any hands-on time with Docker, Nginx, or systemd
  • You have run your own server or homelab
  • Interest in observability and metrics

What you'll learn

  • How production infrastructure is really operated and monitored
  • Containers, reverse proxies, and zero-downtime deployment
  • Incident response: diagnosing a problem calmly while it is happening

Customer Support Intern

Remote · flexible hours

Help customers launch and succeed across web, email, domains, and apps. Write help articles and turn common questions into self-serve answers.

English & French · clear writing

Commitment: 3–6 months · 20–40 hrs/week · unpaid internship

Full job description

About the role

You will be the first person customers talk to when something is confusing or broken — across hosting, email, domains, WordPress, and apps. Great support here is not scripted replies; it is understanding the problem, solving it, and then removing the reason it was ever asked.

What you'll do

  • Answer customer questions over chat and email, in English and French
  • Reproduce reported problems and escalate with clear, specific detail
  • Guide customers through setup: domains, mailboxes, WordPress, and app deploys
  • Write and improve knowledge-base articles
  • Spot recurring questions and turn them into self-serve answers

What we're looking for

  • Fluent written English and French
  • Clear, patient writing — you can explain a technical step to a non-technical person
  • Genuinely comfortable with computers and the web
  • Organised: you follow up and do not let a conversation go cold
  • Willing to learn the product deeply

Nice to have

  • Any experience with WordPress, cPanel/DirectAdmin, or email setup
  • Previous customer-facing work of any kind
  • Interest in technical writing

What you'll learn

  • How web hosting, DNS, and email actually fit together
  • Turning support load into documentation and product fixes
  • Handling frustrated customers well — a career-long skill

Reach businesses across Cameroon, Africa, and beyond. Run outreach, learn the product deeply, and help grow our customer base.

Communication · outreach · curiosity

Commitment: 3–6 months · 20–40 hrs/week · unpaid internship

Full job description

About the role

You will help businesses across Cameroon, Africa, and beyond discover that they can run their online presence properly and affordably. This is consultative selling to owners and developers — you have to understand the product to be useful to them.

What you'll do

  • Research and reach out to businesses that need hosting, domains, or email
  • Run discovery conversations and understand what a prospect actually needs
  • Give product walkthroughs and answer pre-sales questions
  • Keep the pipeline and follow-ups organised and up to date
  • Feed what you hear from the market back to the product team

  • Familiarity with the Cameroonian business landscape

What you'll learn

  • Consultative B2B selling for a technical product
  • How pricing, positioning, and objection handling really work
  • Reading a market and turning that into product feedback

Write blog posts, guides, and product pages that bring builders to CM Cloud. Learn SEO and how content drives real signups.

Writing · SEO basics · English & French

Commitment: 3–6 months · 20–40 hrs/week · unpaid internship

Full job description

About the role

You will write the guides, comparisons, and product pages that bring builders and business owners to CM Cloud from search. The goal is content that genuinely answers the question someone typed — which is also, conveniently, what ranks.

  • Research keywords and write blog posts, guides, and landing pages
  • Write in both English and French for our two main audiences
  • Apply on-page SEO: titles, meta descriptions, headings, internal links

What we're looking for

  • Excellent written English and French
  • You can explain a technical subject simply and correctly

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with Google Search Console or analytics
